One of the most beautiful spots in the world…
This is our 6th time to be at National Teton National Park… We brought our kids here 5 times.
Jennifer looks out on the Teton Range from Jackson Lake Lodge
- On our 14.4 mile hike up Cascade Canyon to Lake Solitude. Bear Spray on my belt.
- One the way to Lake Solitude we hiked through a snow field. (98 degrees back in Illinois.)
- Grand Teton National Park is one of the most beautiful spots on the planet.
Fort Robinson State Park … Crawford, Nebraska
This is off the beaten path, but what a beautiful place, about 25 miles west of Chadron, Nebraska, which is about 8 hours NW of Omaha. This is our 5th or 6th time here. Our kids loved this place back in the mid-1990s. Tonight we’re staying in the brick barracks that were built in 1909. We just finished our buffalo steaks and baked potatoes.

East to West across Nebraska
The 100th meridian runs north/south through the middle of Nebraska, where the United States divides east from west. It shows.

Mystery plant reveals itself
This vine volunteered in my garden this spring. I hoped it might be that delicious variety of cucumber I grew last year. Alas, it is fruit of the squirrels, who planted my fall pumpkin without even trying. It likes the heat. It may cover my entire yard by the time I get home in August.
Rocky Mountain Loop
In 10 days, Don and I plan to leave for Grand Teton National Park, then north to Glacier, Banff and Jasper. From there, we’ll go east across Canada and south through Minnesota to home. We plan to be gone for three weeks.
